"Fatal Crash Mars Fox Hill Super Cross Event: 6 Died, 20 Over Injured"
UPDATE: According to Police Media Spokesman DIG Nihal Thalduwa, another individual who was hurt and taken to the hospital after the accident during the "Fox Hill Super Cross 2024" racing event in Diyatalawa has passed away.
As a result, this brings the total number of fatalities from the horrific event to six.
Police have identified five adult males and a little child among the deceased. Of the people that died, two were spectators who were civilians and the other four were officials from the racing event.
The girl who died was eight years old, according to the Sri Lanka Army Spokesperson.
DIG Thalduwa went on to say that the collision happened as a result of a car going off the course during a racing.
Fourteen out of the twenty-four people who were hurt in the collision and sent to the hospital are reportedly in critical condition.
The police stated that the racing event known as the "Fox Hill Super Cross 2024" has been temporarily halted.
Additional inquiries about the incident are being carried out by Diyatalawa Police.
